The 2023 Sleep Congress, held in Marrakech from March 16 to 18, 2023, dealt with various themes on sleep and its respiratory pathology from children to the elderly, bringing together various medical and surgical specialties.

This congress was twinned with AFMASOM (Franco-Moroccan Association of Sleep and Vigilance Disorders of J.P. GRIGNET), and the new born AFMATROS (Franco-Moroccan Association of Obstructive Respiratory Disorders of Child Sleep).

African Global Health participated in the event as a Sponsor and Partner. Indeed, the association organized the inaugural conference of the Sleep Congress chaired by Dr. Imane Kendili on Thursday March 16, 2023, under the theme of “Obesity and Sleep Apnea Syndrome in Africa: What Risk Reduction? “.

A round table was held for this purpose, highlighting the Senegalese knowledge and experience of our expert Dr Fatoumata BA, Teaching Psychiatrist – Researcher at Gaston-Berger University (UGB) in Senegal, as well as that of our scientific advisor Dr Sara Touirsi, Psychiatrist, Addictologist and President of MAPA (Moroccan Association of Addictive Medicine and Associated Pathologies).

The interests and objectives join a better sensitization of the medical profession and the general public to this pathology so frequent, and which unfortunately remains unknown.

The awareness of the paramedical corps to sleep disorders is a necessity, and its training a requirement for optimal management of these pathologies.
